Back to School Jitters - A Tribute

This week is a big week for a lot of kids out there!  Summer is officially ending and a new school year awaits.  I was always torn about going back to school, but loved having a full backpack of new supplies: sharp colored pencils, crayons, and markers, (just waiting to be used), a trapper-keeper, new folders for each class, (a different color for each subject, of course), several #2 pencils and erasable black and blue pens.  I was flipping through a memory book my mom made for me when I graduated and came across this letter:

"The first time I came to 3rd grade, I was so excited because I was going to learn cursive.  At first I was a little scared because I wasn't sure what to do, why I had to do it, and plus I was shaky all over.  I'm really glad my mom sent me to school.  I have the best friends, the best teachers (the boys there are ok) and best of all my family."

Shaky all over? Really? I was such a drama queen. Oh, those were the days. Remembering all the joys and woes of my school days, I wanted to do a special "Back to School" post for all the kiddos out there waking up before the sun over the next few weeks. Here's to you, your overstuffed backpacks, the friends you'll make, (and girls, the boys you'll like) and most of all - the families who love you enough to support you through this experience.
